HEADSHOT & PERSONAL BRANDING SESSIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
The Headshot Experience
Your headshot session with me is so much more than just a quick photo—it’s a personalized experience designed to bring out your best. From the moment you walk into the studio, you’ll be welcomed with genuine care and expert guidance. We’ll chat about your goals, your brand, and how you want to show up in your images—whether that’s polished and powerful, relaxed and approachable, or somewhere in between.
I’ll direct you every step of the way with easy, natural posing and subtle tweaks that flatter you most. You don’t need to know what to do—I’ve got you. Together, we’ll create headshots that capture not just what you look like, but who you are.
Expect a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere where you’ll feel seen, confident, and maybe even surprised by how fun it can be to be in front of the camera. My goal is to make sure you leave not only with standout images, but with a renewed sense of confidence in how you present yourself to the world.
What to Wear for Your Headshot Session
Clothing plays a big role in the overall impact of your headshots—it should reflect your personality, your brand, and your level of professionalism. Here are some wardrobe tips to help you look your best:
Keep It Classic & Timeless
Opt for solid colors or subtle textures—think navy, charcoal, jewel tones, or soft neutrals.
Avoid bold patterns, neon colors, or distracting logos—they can draw attention away from your face.
A crisp button-down, blouse, blazer, or tailored dress always photographs well.
Choose a Flattering Neckline
V-necks, boat necks, and tailored collars are usually the most flattering.
Avoid turtlenecks (unless it’s your signature style) as they can shorten the neck and feel less open.
Fit Is Everything
Choose clothing that fits well and feels comfortable. Too tight or too loose can be distracting and unflattering.
Structured pieces like blazers, jackets, or fitted tops create clean lines that enhance your shape.
Dress for Your Industry (and Brand)
Think about how you want to present yourself: corporate, creative, approachable, bold, sophisticated?
If you’re in a creative field, feel free to bring in a little more personality with color or accessories.
For more formal industries (law, finance, etc.), go for clean and polished.
Keep Accessories Minimal
Jewelry should be simple and not overpowering—stud earrings, a classic watch, or delicate necklace is perfect.
Avoid anything too flashy or noisy (literally—no clunky bangles!), unless of course that’s what your business is!
Bring a Few Options
Bring 2–4 tops or outfits. I’ll help choose what photographs best based on lighting, backdrop, and your skin tone.
Layers Work Wonders
A well-fitted blazer, cardigan, or jacket adds dimension and polish to your look. You can layer up or down during the session.
Choosing the Right Location
Headshot and personal branding photo sessions can take place in my Studio, or in a variety of beautiful and meaningful locations, depending on the vibe you’re going for! There are benefits to both! Here are some of the differences:
In-Studio
Studio sessions offer a clean, controlled environment perfect for polished, timeless portraits.
Consistent Lighting: No matter the weather or time of day, studio lighting is always flattering and predictable.
Backdrops & Styling: Choose from a variety of backdrops and props to match your vision, brand, or personal style.
Comfort & Privacy: Studio sessions offer a calm, private experience.
Easy Outfit Changes: With access to my client closet and changing area, you can easily switch up your look.
Outdoor
Prefer a natural, lifestyle vibe? An outdoor or location session might be for you. Here’s what to expect:
Beautiful Natural Light: Golden hour sunsets, beach breezes, or lush greenery add warmth and texture to your images.
Unique Backgrounds: Whether it’s the beach, an urban setting, or a favorite park, outdoor locations can make your photos feel more personal and dynamic.
Getting Ready for Your Headshot/Personal Branding Session
Plan Your Wardrobe in Advance. Try everything on, check for comfort, and lay the full look out (including shoes and accessories). Don’t forget to iron or steam clothes if needed.
Grooming Matters. Get a haircut or touch-up a few days in advance (not the day before), and ensure facial hair is neatly groomed. For makeup, go with a polished, natural look that enhances your features. Consider professional hair and makeup for a little extra polish!
Rest Up the Night Before. A good night’s sleep will help reduce puffiness and make you look refreshed and energized in your photos.
Stay Hydrated & Avoid Excess Alcohol. Hydration helps your skin glow, and avoiding excess alcohol the night before can help reduce redness and bloating.
Communicate Your Goals. Think about how you want to use your headshots—LinkedIn, your website, acting, speaking engagements, etc. Let me know what vibe you're going for so I can tailor the session to your vision.
Relax—You’re in Good Hands. You don’t need to worry about posing or looking “perfect.” I’ll guide you every step of the way so you feel confident and look your best.

Your professional portrait session is all about you—from the planning to the final reveal. The session fee covers my time, expertise, and personalized attention to make your experience stress-free and unforgettable.
One-hour session: $300 (includes a $50 print credit towards the purchase of digitals, prints, or products)

Do you offer Payment Plans?
Of course! I'm happy to offer flexible payment options for your prints and products. Many of my clients choose to break their purchase into 2, 3, or 4 payments, allowing them to invest in the pieces they truly love without feeling rushed.
There’s no pressure at all—we’ll take the time to design something beautiful together, and you can move forward at a pace that feels right for you. The best part is, we can begin ordering pieces as payments are made. That way, you can start enjoying some of your artwork right away, or if you prefer, we can wait until the final payment is complete to receive everything at once.
My priority is to create a refined, stress-free experience while delivering timeless and beautifully crafted artwork that will be cherished for generations.
When Can I Expect to Receive Products from my Headshot Session?
Your finished digital images will be delivered via a private online gallery within 48–72 hours after your payment is made at the Reveal Appointment, so you can start enjoying and sharing them right away!
Printed products and custom artwork take a bit more time to perfect and will be ready for pickup at the studio within 2–3 weeks.
Every piece is carefully crafted to ensure the highest quality—something you’ll be proud to display and treasure for years to come.
